Midwest Nannies Florida welcomes you to our website.
We are a regional placement agency serving Southwest Florida
including Fort Myers and the surrounding areas. If you are interested in applying for a
nanny position through our
Agency,
please follow
the instructions
below.
Finding you the perfect job begins with your completion of our
Application and a personal interview with one of our Placement
Counselors. Along with the completed Application, please enclose
two acceptable forms of identification such as a photocopy of
your social security card, US passport or birth certificate and
driver’s license or state ID. If you are not a US citizen,
we need to see proof of your legal right to accept employment.
Please fill out the Application accurately and completely. Please
fully document your work history, including dates of employment,
family or supervisor’s names, addresses and phone numbers.
Written references, CPR and First Aid cards, certifications and
school transcripts, and certificates of any training or service
programs you have completed are all helpful documents you should
enclose to support your Application. Include any volunteer work
you have been or are currently involved with.

Nanny candidates are also required to complete our Personal
Profile. This document is provided to the family in advance of
your interview and represents attributes and qualities you may
have. It is important that you fill it out thoroughly and as
neatly as possible.

Once you are accepted for placement by our Agency, we will work
diligently with you to find you the position you desire.
Prior to placement, we will conduct a background investigation
which includes verification of social security number, a criminal
background check, a current motor vehicle report and a state
check for child abuse findings. Please complete the Authorization
and Consent for Release of information to allow our agency to
complete these checks.

It is important that you understand the interview process and
do what you can to appear professional to the families we send
you to. The more professional you are in your search for a nanny
position, the better choices you will have. Please review our
Nanny Employment Procedures prior to scheduling interviews.

We also have a Nanny Incentive Program for nannies referred
to us and we are able to successfully place.

Once our application process is complete we will review with
you available positions which closely match your requirements.
It is important that we have a clear understanding of what you
are looking for in a position. We will not release your information
to any family without discussing the position with you first
and have your approval. We will then present you to the family.
After presenting you to a potential family and they have an interest
in you as well, we will provide you with their phone number or have
the family call you. Call the family that same day; they are expecting
your call! If you are unable to get through to the family, please leave
a message. This is important because we will be notifying the family
that you will be calling. If you fail to do so, it may result in that
family not wanting to interview with you because you did not follow
through. If the family has requested we do not give out their number,
we will let you know that the family will be calling you. If you do
not hear from the family within a few days, please call the Agency
and let us know. We can then try to determine the family’s situation.
After you have talked to the family, please call the Agency to inform
us when your interview is scheduled for, or when you will be talking
to the family again.
There are many things to think about while preparing for your interview.
First of all, be prepared. Think about things you will want to ask
the family, for example; Have they had a nanny before? What are their
child rearing philosophies? Will they want you to take the children
to play groups and activities? What are the responsibilities regarding
the children, and the home? Are there any other duties they expect
from the nanny? You will also want to consider responses that the family
may ask, for example; Why do you want to be a nanny? Tell me about
your experience, What kinds of things will you do with my children?
Why should I hire you? What salary are you expecting?
While preparing for the interview, dress appropriately. Good
grooming and personal cleanliness is very important to families.
You need to look presentable and professional; however, not too
dressed up where you would not be able to get down on the floor
and play with the children. Make sure you have given yourself
enough time for the interview and have your directions prepared.
If you are not sure of any directions, please call the family
to clarify. Go to the interview alone!! If you must have someone
drive you to the interview, they should wait in the car and not
come in with you. It is best to try to avoid that, as many families
will feel the interview will need to be rushed due to the fact
that someone is waiting for you in the car.
During the interview, make sure you show interest and interact
with the children as well as the parents. If you do not show
interest in the children here, it will be difficult for the family
to see you as their nanny. While discussing your employment history,
be sure to emphasize the positive experiences you have had. Do
not talk in a negative manner about any previous employer or
situation. It is all right to discuss things that might not have
gone perfectly, but do not get caught up in blaming or bad mouthing
anyone. When the interview is ending, make sure you understand
how you are leaving things. For example, will the family be calling
you by the end of the week? Are you supposed to call the family
back to arrange a second interview? Make sure you thank them
for the opportunity to meet with them. Please call the Agency
to let us know how you feel the interview went. We need your
feedback.
Communication between you and the Agency is very important. Please do
not ever assume we know the status of your search or the family’s.
We will continue to call you as more jobs become available. Let us
know if your job search changes at any time.
Our counselors will be available to help you with any questions
you may have. We are here to support you and give you guidance.
We look forward to building and maintaining a long term relationship
with you as we have with so many other nannies. We treat our
nannies with respect and honesty. We look forward to working
with you to find that perfect situation.
