We believe caring for children is the most important job there
is. We are committed to serve our clients and nannies on an
individual basis to meet their special needs and/or requirements.
Our counselors are friendly, professional, honest and always
available to answer any questions or concerns in a timely manner.
We have an excellent reputation of finding the “right
match” for our families and our nannies.
We offer full time live in placements; full and part time
live out placements, summer only placements and we have a temporary
service for short term situations.
Nannies seek us out as an agency through word of mouth. Many
of our referrals come from nannies and families we have previously
worked with. We also recruit through regional advertising and
our website. All of our nannies are US citizens or can legally
accept work in the United States.
Most of our nannies have been nannies in the past. All of
our nannies have childcare experience of some form which includes
babysitting, daycare, preschools, and teaching backgrounds.
Many have degrees in elementary or special education. We look
for nannies with practical work experience and strong references.
Most nannies are CPR and First Aid certified.
The nanny’s salary depends on her experience and education.
It can be $350 to $800 per week depending on the hours. Our
temporary nannies make $12.00 - $18.00 per hour.
They range in age from 18 (minimum age accepted) to 65+ years
old. We screen are nannies for maturity and the sincere love
of working with children.
We verify the Social Security number. We do a criminal background
check, and motor
vehicle report for Florida. If the nanny is from another state,
we do the appropriate checks for that state. We also verify
previous childcare, non-child employment and personal references.
In addition to her salary, the nanny is paid major holidays
and usually offered two weeks paid vacation (one week her choice
of dates and one week the family’s choice of dates).
More and more families are offering health insurance or offering
to pay a portion of it.
You should discuss this with your accountant. We refer our
clients to Breedlove
and Associates and GTM
Associates. Please let them know you got their name from
Midwest Nannies, Ltd.
We tell our families it can take a week up to 2 months. It
depends on what nannies are available at that time (which changes
daily). It also depends on how quickly the family is to work
with us. Returning our calls and contacting the nannies we
send to them promptly will make the hiring process go more
quickly and smoothly. Waiting to respond to us or be in contact
with the nannies we send to a client can delay the process
and possibly miss out on that “perfect match” because
another family has hired her.
An au pair is a foreign national in the United States to experience
American life. She lives with a host family and receives a
small stipend in exchange for babysitting and help with household
chores. She may or may not have childcare experience and she
is able to stay in this country for 1 year.
A nanny is employed by the family as either a live in or live
out nanny and is responsible for all tasks related to the care
of the child(ren). Duties are generally restricted to childcare
and any other child-related tasks. She may or may not have
had any formal training, but usually has actual experience.
Her work week can be from 40 to 60 hours per week.
Our agency opened July 5, 1994. Midwest Nannies Florida
opened as a branch of Midwest Nannies, Ltd. in July, 2005.
